Barney and Robin break up. (How I Met Your Mother season 5 episode 8)

I am VERY, VERY upset.

And just in case you people have already watched the whole thing, please don’t tell me, because I love this show so much even thought it’s practically just Friends version 2.0, in modern times. And I hate to be spoiled.

Oh well. There really can’t be too much awesome in a relationship.

And now I’m gonna watch HanaDan Season 1 to feel that everything is right with the world again. (MatsuJun, even in his weird curly early Donyoji perm, tends to have that effect.)

Oricon: Arashi, the first ever "CD, DVD 4 category champions"

arashigeneration:

Arashi is the first ever “CD, DVD 4 category champions” ~ Monopolising the top 3 spots of the singles charts for the first time since Hikaru GENJI 21 years ago

The “42nd Oricon Yearly Rankings 2009” were announced on the 18th, and popular group Arashi has topped the singles, albums and music DVD categories, and has furthermore received the “Artist Top Sales” (ATS) award with 14.46 billion yen worth of total sales in the singles, albums, music DVD, music Blu-ray Disc categories, becoming the first ever “CD DVD 4 category champions”. Also, their monopolization of the top 3 spots on the singles chart is the first in 21 years since Pink Lady in 1978 and Hikaru GENJI in 1988 (they are the third group in history), and the first ever to monopolize the top 2 spots on the singles charts for two years running, as well as the first to have 4 releases rank in the top 5.

In the 2008 rankings, Arashi monopolized the top 2 spots on the yearly single charts, becoming the first artist to do so in 19 years since female rock band Princess Princess, but this year they have outdone themselves to monopolize the top 3 spots. Starting from #1, “Believe/Kumori Nochi, Kaisei” (657,000; released in March: contains the theme song to movie “Yatterman” starring Sakurai Sho), “Ashita no Kioku/Crazy Moon ~Kimi wa Muteki~” (621,000; released in May: contains the theme song to drama “The Quiz Show” starring Sakurai Sho), and their latest single, the theme song to Aiba Masaki’s lead-role drama “My Girl”, “My Girl” (513,000; released in November), each are theme songs for dramas or movies, reflecting their activities in various arenas this year.

Furthermore, EXILE, who first received the same award in 2008 came in at #2 for ATS, Tohoshinki at #3 and The Beatles, who released remastered versions of their works, ranked in at #5. Also, the best-of album “All the BEST! 1999-2009” (1,433,000; released in August) was #1 on the yearly album charts, and the PV collection “5x10 All the BEST! CLIPS 1999-2009” (591,00; released in October) and live DVD “ARASHI AROUND ASIA 2009 in TOKYO” (428,000; released in March) clinched the #1 and #2 spots on the yearly music DVD charts. This is the first time Arashi has topped the album or music DVD yearly charts. Including their first ATS award, these numerous records are proof that Arashi had led the music scene this 2009.

Apart from these, in the album category, Mr. Children’s “SUPERMARKET FANTASY” came in at #2 and GReeeeN’s “Shio, Koshou” ranked in at #3. Furthermore, within the top 10, EXILE’s “Aisubeki Mirai e” and “EXILE BALLAD BEST” also appeared at #4 and #5.

Another impression left by the music industry for 2009 was the spotlighting effect the deaths of celebrities had on their own works in pushing them to become hits across the board. Topics such as how Michael Jackson’s best-of album, “King of Pop - Japan Edition”, released while he was still alive, rose to #2 on the weekly charts, and how his album “Michael Jackson THIS IS IT” reached #1 when it first debuted were some of the talking points. Imawano Kiyoshirou-san’s posthumous composition “Oh! RADIO” also peaked at #5 on the weekly charts. Also, The Beatles, who simultaneously released remastered versions of their works worldwide, ranked in at #5 for ATS.

EDIT: Artiste Total Sales measures the total revenue in sales of Singles, Albums, Music DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs of each artiste for the past year. [December 8, 2008 - December 13, 2009]

1. Arashi - 14.461 Billion Yen
2. EXILE - 12.932 Billion Yen
3. Tohoshinki - 6.895 Billion Yen
4. B’z - 5.374 Billion Yen
5. The Beatles - 5.2 Billion Yen
